CAT 2026 Score Calculator: Marks vs Percentile & Scaled Score Predictor

Calculate your CAT 2026 raw score, scaled score, and expected percentile. Learn how IIM normalization works, the section-wise marking scheme, and expected cutoffs.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is the primary gateway to secure admission into the 21 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and over 1,200 other premier business schools in India, including FMS Delhi, SPJIMR Mumbai, and MDI Gurgaon. Right after stepping out of the exam hall, the most pressing question on every aspirant's mind is: What will my raw score and percentile be based on my attempts?

Since CAT uses a multi-slot system with varying difficulty levels, converting raw marks directly to percentiles is complex. Using our free online CAT 2026 Score Calculator, you can instantly estimate your raw marks, scaled scores, and overall expected percentile.

🧮 How to Use the CAT 2026 Score Calculator

Our online tool is built using the exact rotational evaluation algorithms of past CAT trends. Follow these simple steps to calculate your scores:

  1. Select Section: Click on the tabs for VARC, DILR, or QA depending on which section you want to calculate.
  2. Scan Your Answer Key (Optional): If the answer key response sheet link is out, paste the URL in Step 1 to automatically fetch your attempts.
  3. Input MCQ Correct/Wrong Responses: Enter your correct MCQ answers (which earn +3 marks) and incorrect MCQ responses (which carry a -1 penalty).
  4. Input TITA Correct Responses: Type in your correct TITA (Type In The Answer) responses (which earn +3 marks and carry 0 negative marks for wrong answers).
  5. Get Sectional & Overall Percentile: The calculator instantly shows your raw section scores, overall raw score, estimated scaled score, and overall percentile band.

Note: The actual raw scores required for these percentiles vary each year depending on paper difficulty and candidate slot performance.

🔄 Raw Score vs Scaled Score Normalization

Since CAT is conducted in three different slots (Slot 1, Slot 2, Slot 3), the difficulty level of sections varies. To prevent any unfair advantage or disadvantage, IIMs employ an Equipercentile Normalization Process.

  • Raw Score: The absolute points you obtain according to the +3/-1 scheme.
  • Scaled Score: The raw score adjusted mathematically to place candidates from different slots on a standard comparable scale.
  • Percentile Score: Your relative position indicating the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or less than you.

For example, a score of 40 in a very difficult slot might scale up to 45, whereas the same raw score in an easier slot might scale down to 38. Percentiles are calculated entirely on the normalized scaled score.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How is the CAT 2026 raw score calculated?

For MCQs, you get +3 for a correct answer and -1 for an incorrect answer. For TITA (Type In The Answer) questions, you get +3 for a correct answer and 0 for an incorrect answer. Unattempted questions get 0 marks.

What is the difference between raw score and scaled score?

The raw score is calculated directly based on the marking scheme. The scaled score is calculated by normalization across slots to account for differences in paper difficulty.

How can I check my expected percentile for CAT 2026?

You can enter your sectional MCQs and TITA attempts in our online CAT 2026 Score Calculator to instantly get your raw scores, scaled scores, and expected overall percentile.

Does a higher raw score guarantee a higher percentile?

Only within the same slot. Across different slots, a lower raw score in a difficult slot can sometimes result in a higher scaled score and percentile than a higher raw score in an easier slot.
