Arithmetic‑Heavy SNAP Quant 2026: Questions That Are Repeating Every Year

Learn the most repeated arithmetic and quantitative questions in SNAP 2026. Discover shortcut methods, frequency tables, and speed techniques.

When preparing for the Quantitative Aptitude section of the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP), speed is your primary asset. You have exactly 20 questions in the Quant, DI, and DS section, and you cannot afford to spend more than 75 seconds per question.

The secret to cracking SNAP Quant lies in the Arithmetic section. Arithmetic accounts for over 50% of the math questions in SNAP. Even better, SNAP has a history of repeating specific types of questions year after year.

In this guide, we present the frequency of arithmetic topics in SNAP, outline the most repeated question types, and discuss speed shortcuts to solve them.

Topic Frequency in SNAP Quant

Based on past 5 years of SNAP paper slots, here is the average distribution of topics in the Quant section:

The 4 Most Repeated Question Types & Shortcuts

Type 1: Successive Percentage Change & Markups

Example: A shopkeeper marks up his goods by 40% and then offers a discount of 20%. What is his net profit percentage?

  • The Shortcut Method: Use the successive percentage formula: $$\text{Net Change} = A + B + \frac{AB}{100}$$ Here, $A = +40$ (markup) and $B = -20$ (discount). $$\text{Net Change} = 40 - 20 - \frac{40 \times 20}{100} = 20 - 8 = 12%$$ Time taken to solve: 15 seconds.

Type 2: Average Speed (Equal Distance)

Example: A car travels from town A to B at 40 km/h and returns at 60 km/h. What is the average speed for the entire journey?

  • The Shortcut Method: When distances are equal, use the Harmonic Mean formula: $$\text{Average Speed} = \frac{2xy}{x+y}$$ where $x$ and $y$ are the speeds. $$\text{Average Speed} = \frac{2 \times 40 \times 60}{40 + 60} = \frac{4800}{100} = 48 \text{ km/h}$$ Time taken to solve: 20 seconds.

Type 3: Relative Speed & Crossing Trains

Example: Two trains of lengths 150m and 120m are running in opposite directions at speeds of 50 km/h and 40 km/h. How long will they take to cross each other?

  • The Shortcut Method: $$\text{Time} = \frac{\text{Sum of Lengths}}{\text{Relative Speed}}$$ Convert speed from km/h to m/s by multiplying by $\frac{5}{18}$. $$\text{Relative Speed} = 50 + 40 = 90 \text{ km/h} = 90 \times \frac{5}{18} = 25 \text{ m/s}$$ $$\text{Time} = \frac{150 + 120}{25} = \frac{270}{25} = 10.8 \text{ seconds}$$ Time taken to solve: 30 seconds.

Type 4: Pipes and Alternating Work

Example: Pipe A can fill a tank in 10 hours, and Pipe B can empty it in 15 hours. If both are opened together, how long will it take to fill the tank?

  • The Shortcut Method: Use the LCM method. Let the total tank capacity be LCM(10, 15) = 30 units.
    • Efficiency of A = $+3$ units/hour.
    • Efficiency of B = $-2$ units/hour (emptying).
    • Combined Efficiency = $+1$ unit/hour.
    • Time taken = $\frac{30}{1} = 30 \text{ hours}$. Time taken to solve: 20 seconds.

3 Speed-Math Habits for SNAP

  1. Memorize Fraction-to-Percentage Conversions: You must instantly know that $\frac{1}{6} = 16.67%$, $\frac{1}{8} = 12.5%$, and $\frac{1}{12} = 8.33%$. This makes discount and interest calculations incredibly fast.
  2. Options Substitution: In algebra questions, do not solve equations. Plug the options back into the equation to see which one satisfies it.
  3. Approximation: If options are far apart, round off figures to make calculations simpler.
