πŸ› οΈ Official NTA Tie-Breaking Rules 2026

If two or more candidates secure identical total marks in the NEET UG 2026 exam, the NTA resolves the tie and determines their All India Rank (AIR) based on the following criteria in order of priority:

  1. Higher Marks in Biology: Preference is given to the candidate with higher marks/percentile in Biology (Botany & Zoology combined).
  2. Higher Marks in Chemistry: If the tie remains, the candidate with higher marks/percentile in Chemistry ranks higher.
  3. Higher Marks in Physics: If the tie persists, the candidate with higher marks/percentile in Physics is ranked higher.
  4. Fewer Incorrect Answers (Overall): The candidate with a lower ratio of incorrect answers to correct answers across all subjects is preferred.
  5. Fewer Incorrect Answers by Subject: The NTA will sequentially check for lower error ratios in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  6. Computerized Random Draw: If all components are identical, a computerized, transparent random draw resolves the final ranking (age and application number are no longer criteria).
