Free AFCAT Mock Test 2026: Air Force Common Admission Test Practice Online
Take our Free AFCAT 2026 Mock Test. 100 questions in 120 minutes covering English, General Knowledge, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning & Military Aptitude. Prepare for Indian Air Force officer entry.
The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) twice a year for recruitment of officers in the Flying Branch, Technical Branch, and Ground Duty Branch. AFCAT is the direct gateway for graduates who aspire to serve as officers in India's air power force — one of the most technologically advanced and elite defence services in the world.
Unlike Army/Navy cadet training, AFCAT officers often come from engineering, science, or humanities backgrounds depending on the branch they apply for. Take the first step with our Free AFCAT 2026 Mock Test.

Why Take Our AFCAT 2026 Mock Test?
- Military Aptitude Section: AFCAT includes a unique Reasoning & Military Aptitude section with spatial ability questions (figure patterns, analogies, military situation problems) not found in civilian exams. Our mock includes these.
- +3/-1 Marking Scheme: Unlike IBPS's -0.25, AFCAT has -1 per wrong answer (on 3 marks per question). Every wrong answer cancels 1/3 of a correct one — accuracy is paramount.
- IAF-Grade English: AFCAT English is close to NDA/CDS standard — grammar, vocabulary, and RC at a higher academic level than SSC.
- Defence Current Affairs: AFCAT GK has a strong defence component — IAF squadrons, aircraft (Rafale, Tejas, C-17), international exercises. Our mock covers this.
Section-Wise Strategy for AFCAT
English (30 Q, 90 Marks)
Focus on:
- Comprehension: One or two RC passages on scientific or social topics
- Error Detection: Grammatical errors (tense, subject-verb agreement, prepositions)
- Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases — particularly unusual words
- Sentence Completion & Para Jumbles
General Knowledge (25 Q, 75 Marks)
IAF-specific topics to master:
- Defence: IAF history, aircraft types, operation names (Operation Safed Sagar, Operation Ganga, Operation Dost)
- Sports: Indian Olympic and CWG medallists, international sports news
- History: Modern Indian history, freedom movement, key personalities
- Geography: Physical features, capitals, currencies, space science
- Current Affairs: Last 6 months — national and international
Numerical Ability (20 Q, 60 Marks)
- Arithmetic: Percentage, Ratio, Profit-Loss, Time-Work, Speed-Distance
- Basic Algebra: Linear equations
- Data Interpretation: Simple tables and bar graphs
- Target: 16+ correct (Class 10 level is sufficient)
Reasoning & Military Aptitude (25 Q, 75 Marks)
- Spatial Ability: Rotating 3D figures, mirror images, paper folding
- Verbal Reasoning: Analogies, classifications, series completion
- Military Symbols & Patterns: Military decision scenarios, sequencing
- Number/Letter Series: Same as standard competitive exams
AFCAT 2 CDSE (EKT) — Technical Branch Candidates
If you are applying for the Technical Branch, you must also take the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) — a 30-minute, 50-question paper testing your engineering fundamentals (Aeronautical, Electronics/Mechanical). The EKT is separate from AFCAT and has no negative marking.
AFSB — The Final Frontier
Like all defence services, AFCAT is followed by Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) testing:
- Intelligence Tests (Verbal + Non-Verbal Reasoning Battery)
- Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT — for Flying Branch only, cannot be retaken if failed)
- Group Psychological Tests (WAT, TAT, SRT, SDT)
- Group Tasks & GD
- Personal Interview with Air Marshal / Wing Commander
Pro Tips for AFCAT 2026
- Spatial Reasoning is Unique: Spend 30 minutes weekly on spatial/3D figure rotation practice — it's not tested in SSC/banking exams and requires dedicated practice.
- IAF Current Affairs are Testable: Check IAF official website and PIB Defence for IAF-specific news (new squadron inductions, bilateral exercises, airshows).
- Flying Branch is Hyper-Competitive: If you dream of flying fighters, prepare exceptionally well — and also solve previous year PABT-style puzzles.
- Apply for Both AFCAT 1 & 2: Two exams per year gives you two chances. Apply consistently until you crack it.
